You have economic crisis just like many other countries, but when Romania joined EU, all the funds which "came to help" you... took place just as they should. Money of course were wasted on crap, but not the majority like in Greece.
The clean roads, the good tarmac surface, the beautiful maintained old buildings in the city centre, the few BUT well decorated bars/restaurants is something GREAT considering that in Greece you rarely find something good among the traffic bullshit and the panic of 1001 shops!
